The Primal Blueprint CookBook Recipes
Posted on November 13, 2010 in Uncategorized

I recently purchased a book called ‘The Primal Blueprint Cook Book,” by Mark Sisson and Jennifer Meier.   It is a low-carb – grain-free – dairy free and gluten free.  The book promotes the Primal way of eating and includes over 100 mouth watering recipes with easy to follow instructions and brilliant photography – which personally I feel is one of the best parts of the book!

Since most of my clients are following (hopefully)  ;0)  a no pasta, no bread, no rice, very limited bean and dairy diet, I thought I should post a bit about this book and some of my favorite recipes so far.   To purchase the book yourself simply click this link:   http://bit.ly/PrimalBlueprint

Here are 4 favorites for you to try for a great alternative to those carbohydrate foods many often crave… particularly in the wintry cold months.

8 Vaccination Myths
Posted on November 12, 2010 in Vaccinations

Immunizations / vaccinations are a highly controversial topic. Doctors and Scientists who promote immunization believe it is for our protection.  Parents who choose to immunize their children, do so for just that reason – to protect them.  As fear based and controversial this topic is,  it is important to keep an open mind and to explore more fully the facts from the myths regarding immunizations.  The sad fact is:  “The Federal government receives about 11,000 reports of serious adverse reactions to vaccination annually, which includes as many as one to two hundred deaths, and several times that number of permanent disabilities.  Read More:

Feeling Inflammed?
Posted on November 9, 2010 in Inflammation

Inflammation can come in many different forms; arthritis, tender muscles, sore ligaments, swelling in the tissue, stiffness, gout, slow recovery after exercise…etc.  While there is no quick fix for inflammation you certainly can find relief.

The first place to look is your diet.  The average person generally eats 3-5 times per day. It is important to consider the type of foods you are consuming. Are these foods nourishing your body, or simply filling your stomach and pleasing your taste buds? One of the most common culprits to inflammation is the over-consumption of sugar.  Sugar comes in many disguises so don’t be fooled! Two of the most common are lactose and fructose found in milk and fruit. But did you know that all grains convert to sugar alcohol in your body?  A typical breakfast for many usually includes one of the following; a bowl of cereal and milk,  a bagel with cream cheese, a bran muffing with jelly, Oatmeal and fruit – washed down with a big glass of orange juice.  If that’s you, then you’re starting your day with a ton of sugar!

Gary Null Exposes Deadly Vaccines
Posted on November 9, 2010 in Pharmaceuticals, Vaccinations, Videos

If you’re interested in hearing another point of view regarding the questionable effectiveness of vaccinations, then you will enjoy, and learn a few things from this YouTube clip.  Gary Null presents some compelling research to back his points on how necessary it is that we all consider the dangerous side effects  of vaccinating.    He describes what those dangers are, and poses the question “what exactly do these vaccinations do for us?”  The points he presents seem to be well researched, and his passion is a joy to watch.    Personally I feel it is important to become informed on this subject so that we can understand the pros and cons of vaccinating, be prepared for the consequences of choosing to vaccinate or not vaccinate, and make informed decisions for ourselves and our loved ones on this important and difficult decision.  Enjoy!

The Anti-Flu Tool Kit
Posted on November 1, 2010 in Uncategorized

Personally I have never opted to get a flu shot as a form of protection for the flu season.  I feel flu shots are dangerous and weaken the immune system more than they help.   I suggest the following 4 products to keep the immune system healthy and strong throughout the winter months.

Colostrum

Reishi Mushroom

Oregano Oil

Probiotics

Oscillococinum

WF’s Market Animal Welfare
Posted on October 28, 2010 in Factory Farming

Whole Foods Market is starting a new impressive Animal Welfare program. Instead of labeling their meats “Natural” or “Organic,” they are implementing  a ” Step 1-5+” system which requires very strict standards for all  farmers they do business with. They will not do business with any farms who do not have at least Step 1 and 2 in place.

The Global Animal Partnership 5-Step Animal Welfare Rating program outlines specific welfare practices, beginning at Sept 1, which is the first level in the program and a clear departure from conventional practices. At Step 1, farmers and ranchers mush focus intently on the welfare of their animals and meet specific standards, including no antibiotics, no animal by-products in their feed, and no added growth hormones. As another example of the strict Step 1 standards, most physical alterations widely used in animal production are prohibited.  The progressive nature of the program encourages producers to improve their welfare practices and to attain higher Step ratings.

The Meatrix
Posted on October 26, 2010 in Factory Farming

The Meatrix is a parody on the movie “The Matrix”. This is a very well-done, and cute video, but not so cute topic regarding the truths of factory farming. Great to share with kids! You can do your part by no longer supporting factory farming. You don’t have to become a vegetarian to do so. Whole Foods Market is becoming a leader in animal welfare, and will only purchase meat from farmers who maintain a healthy/happy quality of life for the animals. Look for my upcoming link describing exactly how this program works! You can also purchase meat from local small farms in your area. Enjoy the video!

10 Reasons To Throw Away Your Micro-wave Oven
Posted on September 16, 2010 in Toxic Insults To The Body

From the conclusions of the Swiss, Russian, and German scientific clinical studies, we can no longer ignore the microwave oven sitting in our kitchens. Based on this research, the following has been concluded:

  1. Continually eating food processed from a microwave oven causes long term, permanent brain damage by “shorting out” electrical impulses in the brain (de-polarizing or de-magnetizing the brain tissue).

The Power Of The Egg Yolk
Posted on September 13, 2010 in Cholesterol, Fats

I often get the question from my clients, “are egg beaters as healthy, or even healthier than eating the whole egg?”  I always respond with a passionate “absolutely not!” The idea that eating part of a food provided by Nature  rather than the “real deal” is healthier, is  a common mistake people make based on fear and mis-information.

The fear comes from thinking that the yolk of an egg is going to result in high cholesterol and higher risk for heart disease.  The misinformation is exactly that notion – cholesterol found in food does not lead to high cholesterol in your body or heart disease.  In fact, it is the exact opposite.

Lets evaluate the benefits of eating a whole egg yolk. Take a look at the following article “The Incredible Edible Egg Yolk,”  and learn some valuable food facts regarding egg yolks vs. egg whites.
